This former Portuguese colony is thankfully capable of more than shoddy imitations of Vegas. The Portuguese had 400 years of rich history here, and there are squares of impressively Iberian character if you know where to find them. The indigenous cuisine, fusing Chinese and Portuguese elements, is another draw.
