Lake Ritsa

Lake Ritsa is the deepest lake in Abkhazia (116 m) and rich in trout. Mountains with heights of 2200 to 3500 m surround the lake. Many specimens of the Nordmann Fir, which reach heights of over 70 meters (230 feet), are found around lake Ritsa. Six rivers flow into the lake and one flows out (Lupshara river).

I was there in 1982 (!) - just a kid then, but what an experience! :-) Mysterious black water and huuuge trees.

Your picture is marvellous! I can't take my eye from it! I visited the lake in 2007 and would like to visit it again.
